Le Creuset Griddle

Grilling is one of the healthiest ways of preparing low-fat food. And there’s no better way to make those beautiful, appetizing grill marks on chicken breast, salmon fillets or vegetables than with a Le Creuset griddle/grill. The Le Creuset Reversible Grill and Griddle is a reversible cooking pan for grilling and griddling. The grill side is perfect for cooking pork chops, chicken, fish or steak while the flat griddle surface on the other side can be used for cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs.

For years, cast iron has been the preferred material for making grills. Cast iron, however, takes a long time to properly season and it is a high maintenance material. It requires a lot of care to prevent rust.

Today, the Le Creuset griddle/grill is made of porcelain enameled cast iron that provides the benefits of a cast iron grill straight out of the box. The black exterior of this Le Creuset cookware is covered with satin black enamel to avoid odor absorption and prevent mixing of food odors and flavors. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

The Giant Reversible Grill and Griddle is made using Le Creuset’s famous workmanship and foundry techniques. Raised lines on the grill side produce perfect cross-hatch grill marks. Larger and deeper indentations around the edges gather more excess fats and oils. The griddle now has larger handles for easier flipping and transporting. The grill/griddle is easy to clean and store. It can overlap one burner or fit over two burners of a standard stove.

Measuring 10 inches by 18.5 inches, this versatile reversible grill and griddle is large enough to cook for a crowd. The griddle can easily cook up to six pancakes and four eggs at one time. The food you are cooking doesn’t stick, and the fat just drains away. The enameled cast iron construction distributes and retains heat superbly.

Before using the Le Creuset Reversible Grill Griddle for the first time, wash it with hot water. Use a brush to remove any coating put on it at the factory. Dry completely and rub with oil. After each use, wash the grill and dry completely by reheating, then coat with oil. You will have to coat it heavily with oil the first few times. After that, a light coating will do. This will help prevent rust marks from forming and food from sticking.

The downside with the Le Creuset griddle and grill is that it is expensive and it cannot be used on a ceramic stovetop. Keep in mind, however, that most grills are designed to be used on a standard stovetop. And with its superb construction and workmanship, the Le Creuset Reversible Grill and Griddle is definitely worth the price.
