Rachael Ray Cookware
You may think I’m weird but I’d rather shop for cookware and kitchen stuff than clothes or makeup. Not surprising, because I enjoy cooking, and the eating that comes after that. I guess that makes me the local expert on cookware. After all, I’ve used a whole range of pots and pans including stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, nonstick, ceramic, glass ceramic – you name it.
Lately I’ve had my eye on several Rachael Ray cookware sets. As we all know, Rachael can cook up the most appetizing meals in a flash so I figure any cookware that has her name on it has to be good.
Seeing that the Rachael Ray anodized cookware range is so popular, I decided I had to find out what the fuss was all about. Well, what better way to find out than to try the cookware myself.
Rachael Ray 10-Piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set, Orange
Amazingly affordable at $154, this Rachael Ray 10-piece cookware set more than delivers on its promise. The charcoal-gray, hard anodized exteriors contrast strikingly with the neon-orange silicone grips on the shiny, stainless steel handles. Two thumbs up for aesthetics.
The set includes 1-1/2 quart and 3-quart covered saucepans, a 6-quart stockpot with cover, 8-inch and 10-inch French skillets, and a 3-quart/10-inch covered sauté pan. It looks like this set has all the bases covered when it comes to cooking.
But wait a minute. I didn’t buy this set just to look at it. So let’s see how well we can cook with it. After cooking a lot of stuff in these pots, I can say the quality is fantastic. Hard-anodized aluminum heats quickly and uniformly. It is scratch resistance and extremely durable. With the clear glass lids, you can monitor the food at a glance.
What I like best is that food simply slides off the nonstick finish. I usually have a problem with fried eggs, they stick so easily to the pan. Well, ever since I got this Rachel Ray cookware set I’ve been frying eggs almost daily on the 8-inch skillet and they come out perfect every single time. I don’t even have to pamper this cooking set because I can use metal utensils without damaging the nonstick interior.
The neon-orange silicone grips on the handles are comfy and keep the handles cool. Each piece of cookware can go from the stove top to the oven up to 400 degrees.
I’ve cooked all our family favorites in these pots and pans– chili, pasta, stews, casseroles, pancakes and lots more. As Rachael would say, “Delish!”
The Rachael Ray 10-piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set is simply fantastic. The set is durable but not too heavy. I can get the water boiling much more quickly.
A vent in the glass lid that can be closed or opened to release steam would have been a nice touch, but I can do without. It’s not dishwasher safe either, so people who hate washing pots and pans may have second thoughts. However, I find them very easy to clean.
With the quality and price, you can’t go wrong with this cookware set.
Rachael Ray Cast Iron Double Burner Grid
This cast iron reversible grill/griddle is just the right size to fit over two burners. The product has enamel edges available in orange, blue and green. I got mine for less than $95 and it’s perfect for grilling meat dishes indoors. If you don’t have a backyard grill, this wonderful Rachael Ray cookware is a great alternative to prepare food with that delicious grilled taste and appetizing grill marks.
One thing I like about this product is its large cooking area. It measures 12 inches by 20 inches and I can grill burgers and veggies at one go. Being made of cast iron, it distributes and retains heat extremely well. It’s quite heavy and hard to lift, but heavy-duty loop handles at the corners make it easy to flip. The griddle side is smooth and perfect for cooking pancakes.
The Rachael Ray grill/griddle works perfectly on standard electric or gas stoves but is impossible to use on a ceramic stovetop. The enamel edges prevent it from making contact so if you have a ceramic stovetop this product is not for you.
Cleaning is a bit difficult. It usually is with cast iron grills. I use lots of hot water and scrub the grill with the tough side of a sponge. Don’t use soap or you’ll lose the seasoning. The griddle side is much easier to clean. After cleaning, dry the grill thoroughly and give it a light coating of oil.
I find that this cast iron grill/griddle is just the right size. It’s durable and great for indoor grilling.
My daughter simply loves grilled skinless, boneless chicken breast with rosemary (and EVOO!). She can’t get enough of it. Guess what cookware I use to fix her favorite dinner?
Rachael Ray Hard-Anodized Rectangular Skillet with Cast Iron Flat Press
They say this is Rachael’s favorite pan for making grilled sandwiches and I can see why. It’s a rectangular 11 by 9 inch skillet. The hard-anodized pan is durable, resists scratches and distributes heat uniformly. It’s another one of Rachael Ray’s signature cookware with nonstick interior for easy cooking and cleaning.
If you like grilled sandwiches (I do), you’ll fall for this product. With the cast iron flat press (or sammy press), you can brown the top and bottom of your grilled sandwiches evenly. My hot sandwiches have never tasted better. And if you want French toast you can cook four slices at once.
The skillet is also great for cooking meats, bacon, eggs, etc. The press helps to keep the bacon flat. I find it’s faster to cook bacon this way.
The skillet has to be hand washed but I don’t mind a bit because the nonstick interior makes cleaning a breeze. The only issue I have against it is that the handle on the sammy press can get hot and you have to use an oven mitt to hold it.
A stay-cool handle is the only thing it needs to give it a perfect score.
Recommendation
Rachael Ray cookware is hard to beat for the price. They’re durable, practical and convenient to use. If you’re in the market for pots and pans, you can’t go wrong with the best selling products from Rachael Ray’s line of cookware. With a good cooking set, you can have your meals ready in… less than 30 minutes!
